Q: All the members of B1A4 have a representative animal; Jinyoung is a fox, CNU a bear, Sandeul a duck, Baro a squirrel and Gongchan a puppy. The fans thought that these animals resembled the members, and eventually they become the representative animal of each member. Do you think your personality or appearance matches well with your animal?

Baro: I'm actually not too sure what is the personality of a squirrel like? Every squirrel's personality should be different right? But I'm agile like a squirrel - I can run quite quickly so I guess that's how we're similar. But the biggest similarity would probably be appearance-wise~ My front tooth are really similar. The nickname of a squirrel has also been with me since elementary school so I probably look like one even at first glance.

Jinyoung: As for me~ (Using two fingers he pulls on the end of his eyes) It's obvious I look like a fox. Everyone probably feels that way beecause the corner of my eyes slant upwards, I used to hear people say I'm like an arctic fox but now that the weather is improving, I'm a desert fox. (laugh) Personality-wise... I'm pretty similar to the desert fox in that we can endure hardships pretty well!

Sandeul: A duck... is basically very innocent! Ducks eat worms from the soil, they're hard-working and down-to-earth, so I guess that's similar to my personality. (Editor's note: Sandeul's explanation got him beaten up by the other members, who said that Sandeul's actually noisy like a duck.)

CNU: Based on my appearance, I'm honestly not too sure if I look like a real bear, but... I think I look more like Winnie the Pooh and I have a similar personality too! (Editor's note: He let out a cute Winnie the Pooh smile after saying this.)

Gongchan: Um... Other than a puppy, I have a lot of other nicknames like camel [T/N: This is what it actually says but I have a feeling it's a mistranslation on the magazine's side..] and Krong. So I'm a little troubled, like how I look a little like all of them yet I don't really look like them, keke. (Editor's note: Even though Gongchan says so, TRENDY feels like Gongchan's innocent gaze is really similar to a puppy's and it's really cute! How does everyone feel?)

Q: Are there any sports that you are good at? Who is the best at sports in the group?

Jinyoung: I played volleyball since I was young, so the sport I used to be most confident in was volleyball but it became fencing. I trained for a very short period of time before I went on Idol Sports Championships so I was very worried but luckily I won first. I gained interest in the sport when training, and felt that fencing was very suited for me. [T/N: I actually asked around and no one has ever heard that Jinyoung has played volleyball before so there's this tiny possibility that it's a mistranslation on the magazine's side as well? CNU: I like to play basketball. Maybe because I have a lot of friends who like to play basketball, I tend to play it often.

Sandeul: So long it's something I can ride, I like it. For example, snowboarding, riding a bicycle or rollerblading.

Baro: Soccer! It's probably because I played soccer ever since I was young so it's a sport I like and have most confidence it. Playing soccer improves one's (speed of) movements, so I think I can run faster too. (laugh)

Gongchan: Rather than a sport I'm confident in, I quite like swimming. It started as a hobby, but after learning for a while I realized it was suitable for me and I ever entered swimming competitions!

Q: How would you confess to someone you like, in a sweet way? (Editor's note: It was really near 14 March at time of interview so we asked this question.)

Jinyoung: This is a sweet I made myself, is it delicious? In this life, I will only make sweets for you, so please stay by my side~ Got it?

CNU: On this day, I will only say this once. I love you.

Sandeul: I love you... I will give you a love sweeter than sweets. (laugh)

Baro: I'm not a person who expresses myself well through words so while eating I will naturally ask her, "Do you know I love you?" Keke.

Q: How do you spend your off days?

Q: Are you different when working and in private?

Sandeul: I think the fans like it the way I am, so there really isn't a 'switch' for me when I work and in private.

Baro: Me too. I'm the type who lives the way I am.

Q: Tell us how the 5 of you get rid of fatigue. 

Jinyoung: I listen to music. My mood improves especially when I listen to classical piano music.

Sandeul: Watching movies. I like to watch new films.

Jinyoung: Recently, there have been many news of famous artistes like Justin Timberlake. I want to listen to them soon.

CNU: Not too long ago, I ordered a laptop for song composition. I hope it comes quickly.

Baro: We're preparing our new song so the thought of being able to meet our fans soon...! Makes my heart go dugeun dugeun!

Gongchan: About my weight. In a long while I managed to gain a little weight but the members said they wanted me to gain more. I will work hard to gain weight!

Jinyoung: Everyone probably thinks that CNU is slow, but CNU driven into a corner is really fast!

Baro: You are like so too. Everyone knows that even though Gongchan looks cool, he takes care of the members well and has a gentle personality, right? It's not just that. He is a child more considerate than you can imagine. He's always thinking about his grandmother and his family. And even though he does not show that he feels lonely, his heart is really sad. Occasionally... There are times that he lets all of that out.

At the press conference held on 15 April 2013 2PM at Sangam-dong CJ E&M Centre, B1A4's Jinyoung spoke up about being casted in tvN new drama's She is Wow.

Jinyoung talked about being cast in a rated 19+ drama, commenting that "it may be very different from the image of me the fans have been seeing."  He revealed that "I thought it was very different from my actual self but I started thinking whether I really have this side to myself too" and "I've grown more attached and it's more interesting. It'll be a new image for the fans too, so I think they will watch it interestingly too." 

Jinyoung said that he secretly monitored (the comments) the fancafe often. "When I read them, half of them are worried and the other half looking forward to how I will turn out. My role is that of a problem child, but my image is not so and I think I'm quite caring. In some way, I worried a lot because I was supposed to be a problem child of a legendary level."

Continuing on, Jinyoung said that "there are no revealing scenes and even though there is a kiss scene, it is not that sort of kiss scene. In a more interesting terminology, it's the head-butting of lips. I was worried about it being rated 19+, but luckily it's 15+. I definitely feel more comfortable."

Jinyoung chose his role models as he watched the numerous idols take on acting in dramas and movies while singing. He brought up Park Yoochun, who was reborn perfectly as an acting-idol through Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Rooftop Prince. "I really like senior Park Yoochun's acting. I felt that his acting was authentic." He also mentioned being impressed by senior TOP's acting in 71 Into The Fire, commenting that even though the other actors were also cool, he could feel what TOP was trying to express with just his eyes. He revealed that "recently, I have also been practicing acting with my eyes."

Jinyoung said "even though I did monitor my scene at the filming location, I'm worried about whether it will turn out well when made into the real episode." When asked about Jinyoung's acting, Oh Hyunkyung clapped while revealing that she was surprised at how much better Jinyoung was than expected.

B1A4 member Jinyoung commented that "this is my first time challenging acting. Maybe because it's my first time, the director worried a lot. Not only did he do a character analysis with me, he also helped a lot", offering his thanks. He also said that "there are members who have had acting experience so I received a lot of advice. Member Sandeul had experience with a musical so he offered to practice the script with me. I was really happy that the members took interest in my acting."

Jinyoung honestly confessed the ranking of acting ability in his team. When he received the question of who acts well in the group from a reporter, he said that "CNU did a drama, and Sandeul did a musical so it is hard to make a comparison." Upon being asked to rank them, he said that "both of them are good. I can't really choose one. But I think I am not faring any worse than Sandeul and CNU," arousing laughter. He also received the question of which acting-dol around him seems exceptional, to which he answered that he doesn't treat them as competitors and that all of them are amazing.

Even though Jinyoung has been gaining popularity as the 'composer-dol' amongst idol group members, he revealed at his happiness through a confession that "at the same time I debuted as a singer, I wanted to act too. And luckily a good drama came in. Jinyoung: Tree. Like the big tree from picture book 'The Giving Tree', he is unselfish in giving his all for us.

CNU: Cane. He is the person I can most depend on when anything happens.

Baro: Mineral spring. He is like the spring I can depend on and rest at when I'm tired from mountain-climbing.

Gongchan: Psychic. He is able to control his win and losses in a game of scissors paper stone.

Once in an interview, I made a small mistake. I didn't even realize it, and CNU hyung was the only one who realized it then told me about it. Imagine if he wasn't around... Please always be by my side!

For B1A4, there is nothing that I can do alone... But! If it's for the members, I'll give my best and work hard no matter now. I can say that much for certain.

I want to participate actively in making new songs. Currently, I am involved in rap-making and that is really enjoyable. I also like to draw illustrations so it'll be nice to be able to do that too.

Jinyoung: My bag. It's always with me, and has all the things I need.

This happened when we were in the car on the way to a live performance. That day, the condition of my throat was not too good. Sandeul made me drink a tea good for my throat, and taught me how to improve its condition. Thankfully I was able to complete the performance without any mishaps.

Having sold-out their first ever Japan arena concert in last January, B1A4 has been picked as the most anticipated idols of 2013 and their main vocal is celebrating his birthday today. Born 20 March 1992.

Despite having the nickname of 'happy virus' because of his aegyo-filled eyesmile and Busan accent, the seriousness when he sings is unbeatable. We hear more about his thoughts of celebrating his birthday from the 'owner of a reversal charm' with explosive vocals that steal women's hearts.

Q. What do you intend to do on your birthday?

A: We're scheduled to be practicing tomorrow. I'm not too sure if Jinyoung hyung will show me a movie, but I'm looking forward to it. But personally, there is something that I find myself wanting to do tomorrow. I've never looked around the area around my house so I want to wake up early, stroll around the neighbourhood and the hills behind while taking photos.

Q. How do you feel about celebrating your birthday?

A: Last year I celebrated my birthday with fans. Maybe it's because it was such a huge occasion that having to celebrate it amongst ourselves this time is a little saddening. I think it'll be more fun if there was an opportunity to celebrate and enjoy together. I think it's because I spent it way too interestingly last year. Even so, I'm really thankful that there are still fans who come personally to congratulate me.

Q. How do you feel about growing older?

A: Since growing old means gaining more life experience, I am looking forward to me. I'm curious to know how I will think as I grow older. I want to express the things that I feel from the gradual acquisition of life experiences musically. 

Q. What is the age you look forward to the most, and why?

A: 30 years old. People around me say that only when you go over 30 years old, you have 'experienced life'. I think that's why I look forward to getting older. I'm curious about what kind of emotions and thoughts I would have and how I will sing according to the experiences I've had.

Q. What are the things you like to hear, and hate to hear on your birthday?

A: I hate to hear people tell me not to eat so much. Honestly it's my birthday, I want to eat cake and delicious foods. It's sad to hear people asking me to restrain myself. I thought about things I'd like to hear, but I'm still not too sure. 'Happy birthday' is good but weirdly, it doesn't seem to be it. Of course I'm thankful that people congratulate me on the day I'm born once a year, but I end up thinking even more about my parents. I didn't think this way in the past, but having to live apart from my parents... I think even more about them on my birthday. I hope my birthday is a day where I can reflect on the past times.

Q. What was your conception dream?

A: I asked my mother, and she said there were huge fishes swimming along the river bank and amongst them was a rainbow fish.

Q. What was the most memorable birthday?

A: My birthday last year. Celebrating my birthday this year, the thought of last year came up and I felt like something was lacking. It was really nice that it wasn't just me being congratulated but an occasion that everyone was happy and enjoying. 

Q. What special presents have you received?

A: This time would be photobook? There are many fans who made them like a long album. It's nice because it's filled with all the memories and it makes me think of the past.

Q. What is a present you wish to receive?

A: I want to receive a song that everyone can enjoy and feel happy.

Q. If you were given a break for your birthday, what is one thing you have to do?

A: A holiday. I like to just walk around, so it'll be nice to walk about aimlessly while sightseeing and gathering up my thoughts.

Q. What was a wish you made when you were young? Has it come true?

A: If I talk about wishes that have yet to come true, they won't come true so those are kept as secrets. But amongst those that have come true, 'please let me sing' would be one. I got that job that allows me to sing.

Q. What would be your birthday in 10 years' time be like?

A: I want to spend my birthday in 10 years' time on stage. Not just being congratulated, but I want to be the present to someone too. The presents I can give are songs, so it'll be nice to be standing on stage.

A: Zion.T. I was extremely impressed and moved by watching him sing. His style of singing is very interesting and delightful, so I think I'll be really happy to be able to be congratulated by him.

With an average age of 20, the members of B1A4 could not stop talking at their press conference. Occasionally member Sandeul would laugh out loud, mutter to himself and even make weird faces. They say youth is money, and it’s true. The members spoke like firecrackers, going on and on one after another. When Baro snatched the microphone over to talk, he even got a shock because the volume was too loud. Gongchan got a shock by the huge turnout at the press conference during their entrance. And the eldest CNU was the first to come in, and his shy appearance was really cute.

At the press conference, they tried to guess the sports king, fashion king, cooking king, best face, best ‘oppa’ best son-in-law, best boyfriend and best daddy in the hearts of the Taiwanese fans. Warner Music did a poll amongst the fans and Baro was sports king, Gongchan with the most perfect face, best son-in-law CNU, fashion king Baro. And it was a triple crown for best daddy, best boyfriend and cooking king, Jinyoung. The members managed to pick out the answers of the fans quite accurately! But the fan-chosen best ‘oppa’ Sandeul was actually the member who received 0 votes from his fellow members. CNU laughed and said, “Maybe he is very easy-going, but being the best ‘oppa’ is…”

Leader Jinyoung revealed that when he saw best face Gongchan after his shower with his wet hair pushed back the night before, he thought for a second, “Wow, he’s so handsome”, causing the members to imitate throwing up motions. Baro said in fake seriousness, saying that all of them were lacking a little (in visuals) and only when they’re together then they’re perfect. But he went on to praise himself, “But if it’s only me, it’s almost full marks already.” 

Baro was officially recognized by the fans and members as the sports king but CNU was not willing to back down and said that it should be him. He proclaimed himself to be the sports king in the eyes of the Taiwanese fans and tried to appeal, saying that “I’m really good at taekwondo!” When he was asked to show off a few moves, he said that his pants were too tight so instead he showed the hand position and got mocked by the members who said that it was too weak.
