The source of your inspirations: I cried reading the book “사랑 고마워요 고마워요” (Love, thank you, thank you). Reading books unfolds all kinds of imagination. Thanks to them, I learnt about relationships through words.

My role model is will.i.am. His songwriting skills, ability to sing, stage presence, leadership, and the carefreeness that comes with his exper ease.

Amongst the members, what are you number one at? My lips are fuller and sexier than any of them.

When do the members look sexy? When Channie comes out of the shower and he calls for me. I will never forget the appearance of him ruffling his hair dry while looking at me.

A recent worry: I always think about what sort of pretty actions should I do to receive praise from the other members. It’s a worry that I have for myself.

Members’ secrets: Jinyoung hyung and Baro are just as tall as I am!!! No one knows that.

Goal in 2012: To do everything to my best effort so that I regret nothing. To work hard at exercising. And also to receive the love of noonas.

If I would live as someone else for a week, I want to be the character David Rice from the movieJumper. It’ll be interesting to visit the universe by teleportation.

Moments when you think that you look sexy: When I’m engrossed in work. I have ever once heard someone say so before. Hehe.

What does your blonde hair represent? A ghost who kills time. Coming back with blonde hair makes me feel welcome, like a long lost friend. Blonde hair is my friend. I want to run around the tracks with it.

What does your low voice represent? One of my weapons for a reversal.

If I had to introduce a member to my younger sister, it’ll be Sandeul. I started to think differently from the past. When he’s sulky, he is easy to appease. He’ll always keep her happy.

B1A4′s worst bloody battle? I swear I speak the truth, but we have never fought before. We talk a lot, and comfort each other. The reason for our biggest argument was over the dinner menu.

Members’ body parts that you want: Sandeul’s cheek fats. I’m looking for the recently missing cutie bouncy cheek fats of Sandeul hyung.

Members’ secrets: When we need to clean (the dormitory), the hyungs disappear one by one. So I always end up doing it alone.

Members’ sleeping habits: Jinyoung hyung does ballet when he’s asleep. CNU talks to himself, and it’s scary. If you sleep with Sandeul hyung, he’ll hug you to sleep. Baro hyung snores. Hyungs, I’m sorry.

V.G: Other than B1A4, people are calling you “blood-dols”. Who gave the team its name?

Jinyoung: We decided on the team name together. Initially with the meaning of “we are the ace”, we had decided our team name to be “Ace” and even had a logo made. But in the end we decided on our current name. With 1 member being blood type B and 4 members being blood type A, we are B1A4. Baro is the only member with blood type B.

V.G: There are many similar male idol groups of your age range, but what is the special point to B1A4?

Sandeul: I think it’s our friendliness. Idols whom fans are easily able to come close to comfortably?

Baro: All five of us are from the provinces. And amazingly, we are all from different hometowns.

Sandeul: Come to think of us, privately we all have use accents, but mine is the most serious. I have a Busan accent but honestly when I use the accent, I do not realize that I’m using it. Even now, I’m speaking with an accent. (Baro: Eh… How is that possible!) Speaking in standard Seoul accent seems to be really hard.

CNU: We have gone on quite a few broadcasts and reality programs, so I think the fans are able to treat us more like friends.

V.G: With B1A4 as the main characters, the fans have made many games and written many fanfictions.

Baro: So that’s why those came out on related search terms on Naver? I have to take another look then!

Jinyoung: Maybe that’s why we also have many nicknames, because the fans are able to make them for us comfortably. I hear that we resemble animals really often. I’m an arctic fox, CNU’s a bear, Sandeul’s a duck, Baro’s a squirrel and Gongchan looks like a puppy? Is that true?

V.G: Are you now more used to being on stage? Or are you still nervious?

Baro: All of us enjoy the stage well, and I think that’s one of our charms. We have the confidence to play well around on the stage, and it’s comfortable. We think of the stage as our playground.

Jinyoung: The message that we shout before we go on stage is also “so let’s play!”. That is how the people watching can enjoy the performance.

V.G: The process of each of you becoming a singer was different right?

Jinyoung: Ever since I was young, I had the dream of becoming an entertainer. I went back and forth from my hometown of Chungju to Seoul while studying acting. I came about to learning how to sing as well, and I managed to score many small roles in dramas. It was when I was preparing to enter university that the company contacted me for an audition upon seeing me on an internet cafe, and that’s how I was accepted. I sang Im Changjung senior’s song, and reenacted out the knife scene with Gong Gil from ‘The King and The Clown’. 

Baro: Hyung was in fact, acting while he sang. He immersed himself in the song, and had moist eyes after that.

Sandeul: I was shocked after seeing those eyes. Another of hyung’s surprising sides is how he looks when he composes and writers. He did not even learn it, but he now knows how to edit songs as well.

CNU: I saw everything, from the start when Jinyoung started to take interest in composing and he went to purchase the equipment for it, and started studying. It now feels extraordinary when I see that his own songs are put into our album.

Gongchan: Jinyoung hyung is like a father. He leads us on as if we are children. (V.G: What is the age difference?) 2 years (laugh).

V.G: How did Baro debut then?

Baro: I was a “kid” who didn’t know what to do about my dreams because I was in the province. But I found my chance when the company saw a picture uploaded on my mini-hompy and contacted me. Of course I agreed immediately. Ask me what did I sing. (V.G: What song did you sing?) I sang Jo Sumi’s “If I Leave” (laugh). I liked to rap and had no confidence in singing, but my friend told me that as much as I can’t sing, I should sing a song that has much screaming. So I put my heart down and chose a song that had a bit of screaming. 

Sandeul: But for a guy, I’m actually amazed by his high vocal range. He managed to pull the song off. He has many sides to him that’s like a woman. Just like women doing some self-management, he removes his makeup immediately when he reaches home and does masks (laugh). He’s really good at tidying too.

Baro: That’s because I’ve had the habit of tidying up. Since my mother and father come home late after work, I will have to do the housework if the house is untidy. That’s why I’m used to cleaning up the house before they come home.

Jinyoung: Baro is someone who reflects a lot about himself, and will constantly find his weaknesses and correct them. He also works very hard to create his own rap. Whenever I see these sides to him, I know that eventually his hard work will pay off. I am looking forward to it.

V.G: What kind of history did Sandeul have, that “pre-debut Sandeul” actually comes up in the related search terms?

Sandeul: I’ve always had really bad eyesight so I grew up wearing spectacles. But everyone says that it’s very different now and when I wear spectacles. Because I really liked to sing when I was young too, I joined many singing competitions all over Korea with that appearance. I swept up all the awards… Just kidding, but I did place 1st a few times (laugh). Those videos are often uploaded onto the internet, and the company contacted me to recruit me into the team.

Baro: Unknowingly, Sandeul immerses his emotions on stage, and it’s really mournful. Usually most people would be serious while singing, and then greet people while laughing after that to relieve their emtions. But Sandeul doesn’t let go of his feelings until the MR track finishes playing.

Jinyoung: But the things that happen in daily life is like a sitcom. For example, a situation recently was that he was just opening the door to the bathroom but ended up breaking the doorknob. That’s ridiculous… Breaking an iron handle as if he’s in a slapstick comedy. The reaction was really huge…

Gongchan: To express Sandeul hyung in one word… Motor? (V.G: Because he has a motor on his mount?) How did you know? (laugh) No, I will say that he has Mobius in him. When hyung is stuck on a subject while talking, he will repeat that repeatedly. I have heard him talk about the same thing for 2 hours.

V.G: Compared to the other members, CNU seems to be calmer and quieter.

Jinyoung: Between ourselves, we talk CNU the scholar. He is gentle in everything he does, and he also speaks very calmly.

CNU: Since I’m born in Choongcheongdo, I’m a little slow (in movement). But in real life, I’m a little frivalous, I think that’s part of my character. Because I always cover my face a lot, I think that side to me doesn’t appear often. But when we are alone in the dormitory, I fool around the most.

Gongchan: If Jinyoung hyung’s the father, CNU hyung is like the mother. (laugh) When we first came together as a group, I did not know anything at all. The other hyungs took care of me and explained things to me, but only CNU hyung didn’t. He also scolded me many things. But I realized later on, that he intentionally did so so that I would not become lazy under the protection of the other hyungs who treated me like the youngest.

V.G: How did maknae Gongchan debut?

Gongchan: Since I was young, I wanted to be a singer but because I was in the countryside, there were no chances. But I got contacted by the company after they saw a picture my friend uploaded on a portal site.

CNU: At first, Channie looked like a puppy but now.. A dog? (laugh). He looked like a kid, but he didn’t act so. Even though he’s the youngest in the team, but at home he’s the eldest and had a mature side to him. Hence he looks after the hyungs well, to the extent that he feels like a mother dog. Jinyoung has the tendency to lose things, but he would wordlessly take it and hand it to him. It is to the extent that we nicknamed it “Gongchan’s miracle”.

V.G: I think that the five of you together makes up for the weaknesses that you have individually. You also seem very close.

CNU: We have a “talk time” that we do on Saturdays. Even though we don’t do it as often as in the past since we are busy, but because of that time, we got much closer. We also managed to clear up our misunderstanding. Whenever Baro has a problem, he would be very straightforward in expressing it. Rather than thinking long and hard about it, he would express it out and relieve his mind of it. He is also quick in making judgements. On the other hand, Jinyoung and I will think long and hard. We think about the different situations that will matter based on the decisions we would eventually make… In this period, Channie would be listening quietly, and suddenly throws something out. There are many times that his answer would be good, and we make a decision while everyone goes “oh, oh!”. As for Sandeul… He is active. (laugh)

V.G: Last year was your first year of debut, and you will be starting your full-out promotional activites starting this year. What is your goal?

CNU: Every year we set goals, and last year we wanted to get the rookie awards. It came true. This year’s goal is to achieve first place in a music program. If we manage to get a bonsang award in the year end award shows, I think we will be really really thankful. Please look forward to our album releasing in March.

Baro: When we try to decide what to eat, blood type Bs are usually able to pick out something we want to eat immediately after taking a look at the menu.

Sandeul: As for the blood type As, we end up having to look at the menu for 10 minutes.

Baro: I sometimes say, “It’d be nice if everyone picked out their food quickly” and look at them. There are many times that they ask me for advice like, “How about this?” (laugh)

Jinyoung: There are also times in our daily lives that I feel that we should pay Baro a little more attention, but we don’t say it out immediately. Then later on we tell Baro that “since you did it this way last time, do it the same way now” but he asks us what happened last time and totally forgets everything. Baro: Since I’ve always lived thinking of myself, I always assumed that everyone else lived like me. But whenever I’m with the members, I think that they have really lived thinking about many things. I get these thoughts often. (laugh)

CNU: Hahaha. But I feel that Baro is slowly becoming more like a blood type A, after being around us for so long.

- How is everyone feeling about the upcoming summer debut?

CNU: Just like how I feel whenever I think of the pork belly I really like to eat. (laugh) I’m really excited, and my heart is fluttering.

Gongchan: My heart is beating really fast. Rather than feeling the pressure, I am looking forward to the debut.

Baro: I was really happy to see so many fans come to our first showcase in Japan last year. We will work hard to show everyone a more handsome and matured look.

In Korea, your examination table is usually used by someone else so whether the chocolate was for me or someone else, I don’t know either. but I ate it anyway (laugh). CNU:

1. A person with a big heart and is like a wise mother.

1. A person who enjoys and works hard at what she does, and takes responsibility in it.

Rookie group B1A4 who debuted in April with their first EP "Let's Fly" is now back with their second EP. Maybe it is because the members participated in the composition of the songs, they are really fast. Jinyoung says that "other than when we have schedules, the members talk a lot about music, and whenever we have time, we will record for each other". He means to say that rather than being fast, it is because they are spending their days thinking of music. Here is an interview with B1A4 on the occasion of the release of their new EP.

Q. The group was named based on the members' blood types. Everyone knows which member is of blood type B right? But in case there are people who do not know, please tell us. And who was the person who first came up with the idea of such a group name? How would it have become if all of you were of blood type A?

CNU: Our group name is formed from the blood types of the members! BARO is of blood type B, the rest are of blood type A. Many people found our group name novel and interesting after finding out the meaning behind it. Occasionally there are people who say that our names are difficult (to remember), but it was easy to remember that there are 4 members with blood type A and 1 member with blood type B. Please remember it~^^

Baro: The company told us to think about our group name before debut, and after discussion the members thought that creating a name from our blood types would be amusing and interesting. The company thought that it was unique and they liked it (laugh).

Sandeul: Initially it was A4B1, but to pronounce B1A4 was easier. It was more interesting to have the alphabet B in front, hence it is B1A4. But someone asked whether our group name was too easily established (alguh).

Gongchan: Um... If we were all of blood type A, wouldn't we become A5? (laugh)

Q: When considering the title of your new EP "it B1A4", what did you want the "it" to represent?

CNU: Recently, there are terms like "it bag". To become the centre of attention, and to become the best - the album name "it B1A4" was hence created, to receive love from many people with our own charms and spread our music far and wide. Also, it stands for "It's the B1A4"; if it's not B1A4, it's not possible, it must be done by B1A4. B1A4, as a whole, will work hard to become the "it".

Q. In this album, Jinyoung's self-composed, written and edited song has been included. Other agencies nowadays are mostly hiring an in-house composer or receiving songs from a popular composer, it is unusual for the song to be composed by a group member. You must be proud of that.

Jinyoung: Yes, my self-composed song has been included in this album as well. In the previous album where I wrote and composed. This time I managed to write, compose and edit my song. To see the end result of something I've worked on in my spare time over this period makes me really satisfied, and in future I will work harder and have more complete music with better standards to let everyone listen to. Also, CNU and Baro helped a lot in the making of this song. Similarly with the previous album, it's a song that I did not accomplish alone. The members give me ideas and opinions by my side, and it was only possible with their participation. To the members who even when tired out after practice, if I request for a song guide, they would agree readily, I'm really thankful.

Q. What were the intentions behind your title track?

Baro: I wrote the lyrics with CNU hyung It was from the idea of 'my heart/feelings for the opposite sex I like is zoom zooming through, just like a rocket taking off'. Everyone will understand when they listen to the song, but in the chorus, there is strong pronounciations and distinctive reggae-style rap. Once you hear it, you will sing along to it. I guess that's the charm of the song (laugh).

Gongchan: If you listen hard enough, there are many interesting sound effects like gunshots, rocket sounds, and the screams of a girl. Many people do not realize it the first time they hear the song, but they will find it interesting after hearing it twice, and that it is addictive.

Sandeul: 'Beautiful Target' also has choreography different from the usual. You'll be able to feel the charms of only B1A4, starting with Jinyoung hyung and Gongchan's gentle voices, the indivualities of CNU hyung and Baro's rapping, then my power vocals, forming up a house rhythm. 

Q. Please tell us about your favourite songs in this album.

Jinyoung: I tend to like songs that are of europop style, so when Wonderful Tonight was in its guide stage I started to like it. Especially when I paid a lot of attention to its sound when composing, and after refining it, I really like how rich it sounded.

CNU: I like Chu Chu Chu the best. Of course, I like all the songs but when we recorded this song, I put all my emotions into singing it. Even though I did not diligently put effort into getting into the feelings, I fell into them naturally. This song has a vintage feeling, and uses clean-sounding instruments. That is the song's charm.

Sandeul: For me, Chu Chu Chu. Its lyrics makes the song sweet. The song is also livened with the charming voices of the members, and the title itself is cute. At first when I heard the song title, I thought it was funny. But this song is sung to appease agirlfriend by going "woo-jjoo-jjoo", so the thought of me singing this to my girlfriend if I had one came up. (laugh)

Baro: No matter what, the title song is this best! When I first heard this song, I got goosebumps. So the ideas surged up within me and I ended up participating in the writing of lyrics. What makes this song different from others is that there are many interesting elements in it, hence I wrote lyrics for it with much emphasis on that.

Gongchan: Recently I have been listening to Wonderful Tonight. When I listen to this song, my shoulders move along to the beat and I get excited, even though the lyrics are sad. When I hear Sandeul hyung's high note adlibs in the last chorus, I think he's really handsome. CNU hyung's rap in the middle is also very memorable. Since this song is composed bit by bit after returning to the dormitory with a tired body, I feel even more attached to it.

Q. The mainstream music industry is filled with boybands, and B1A4 is facing a competitive situation. To a fan who has just learnt about B1A4, what differentiates you from the boybands currently in the market?

Jinyoung: We are a group that are filled with musical greed. We like all genres of music and are very passionate, and even though it may seem very natural, I as a leader am very proud and satisfied that we constantly search for new genres of music. I am one team with people like them. CNU and Baro have a lot to sing regarding rap. In their spare time, they write raps, listen to each other's work and give constructive criticism without holding back. They are very honest, and praise the other party when they have done well. As for Sandeul, he has a lot of greed for singing. He always thinks that "I am a person who sings", hence he takes everything with regards to the stage very seriously. One thing we can't forget is that Sandeul was watching the program "I Am A Singer" and after watching a certain singer's performance he went to the desk and laid face down for a long time. I think he had mixed feelings, of being touched (by the performance) and the thought of if whether he'd be able to move the hearts of so many people. Sandeul is doing really well now, but seeing him work hard with the thought of not being good enough for himself is really cool. In Gongchan's case, he is a child with a jewel-like voice, but has not been able to shine yet. As a fellow member, I feel pity for him. As much as he is working hard now, I think soon enough Channie's gentle voice will shine. And for myself, I am working hard to compose, write, edit and sing all at the same time without missing out any one. As our albums come out one by one, we wish to show everyone a more complete and better music. B1A4 are working hard with regards to music and are very passionate about it, so please continue to look out for us.

Jinyoung: Our resolutions for our second album are different from our debut album. The biggest difference is that we have gained many people who are showing us concern and love. 1: I really like singing. During junior high it was when I came in first during a competition of 'I Am A Singer' with friends who were good at singing too. I'd wanted to get better and stronger, so I joined a national competition. Then, after learning a lot from the singing fest, I felt really happy when I stood on the stage for the first time, I then saw my dream to be a singer forming.

2.When I first got into the dorm. The members had planned to surprise me. I lived in Busan, so I had to take the train up city, but I was welcomed by Jinyoung whom had already arrived. 1: A kid that always looked forward to activities. I got into the school council within 1 week after returning to school, got into the school fest council, I also got into the comedy circle during High school. I also had a lot of interest in music, I managed to see my dream after trying singing and rapping.

2: During DJ DOC's concert. It was fun yet saddening. During the concert there was a part where the audiences could show their skills, Jinyoung, Shinwoo and I went up. Even though Jinyoung and Shinwoo got the attention, I didn't do anything. But we were happy with hyungs' performance.

3. During our debut stage's rehearsal, Gongchan fell on his butt. When we saw that, we all got nervous. But during the real thing, everyone managed to do well and we had to pretend like we weren't nervous. We really felt thankful to the audiences that supported us.

4. I heard from the members that I'm the group's mood maker. In any way, I like to be interesting and to make people laugh. Also, I think that my rapping voice which is different from how I look is really charming.

1: I've always wanted to be in this industry ever since I was young. I like to sing in front of people, I was the vice-chairman in the student council, I had a personality that was suited in the school council. During school I managed to hone on my acting skills, I also partook in a film for the school. During that period, my picture was uploaded to the site, and I was foun by the company, so I got ino B1A4.

2. When we did a '₩10,000 Happiness'. Even though I spent ₩10,000 on socks for the members, there were the others who bought other stuff like pajamas, cakes, alarm clocks...... there were many different kinds of presents.

3. During our first ever fansigning. There were not only our Korean fans, but fans from Japan, THailand, Taiwang, Poland etc. overseas fans who came to see us, we were really touched.

4. I have a very forward personality. Even when we have a bad situation, as long as I think of 'everything will get better', it really does get better. Also focusing. When I am immersed (focused) in something, I wouldn't be able to hear anything that calls me. My charm pint is, I am a great guy that likes to cook. Someday, I will make a nice Aglio Olio so please come over and play~.

1: Having been in the drama club since junior high school, I've been on the stage for countless times. During my first year in high school, I crossdressed and danced to Ivy, getting second in place. My love for the stage slowly grew, when I was in junior high year 3 I participated in Cyworld's 'Ulzzang Challenge Corner' when my friend had uploaded my picture. Afterwhich, I got into the audition and became a member.

2: I was the main lead in the short film my friend filmed. At the last day, we went to Myeong-dong to film at the wild, and because the staff had to carry a lot of things, the hyungs came to help. I was really grateful, so I teared up due to joy.

3: When I went to school, my friends would be there to give me support. My teacher would also encourage me.

4: People are saying 'You seem cool and unfriendly at the first sight, but when we really socialize you seem to have a lot of aegyo.'. 2: I tend to oversleep. If I have to arrive at the practice room at 10, I would wake up at 9.50 (laughs)! I would wake the members up in a hurry, dash off to practice without washing up. Since we can't even be late for a minute, we ran. Even thinking of it makes it fun.

3: When there is public airing or anything, my parents would come. After my debut, my parents came to my first live stage, so I was really nervous....... I thought 'that was great' after it ended, and I was really moved after getting praised.

4: I'm more of the meticulous type. The members call me 'Mother' (laughs). My charm is my body proportion and my smile as to what people has sad.

5. I would like to try a solo concert as B1A4. Like in my studying period, I would want to show a full band and session with a strong sexiness and rock stage. In the beginning of June, B1A4 had their first interaction with Taiwanese media. Since their debut on 23rd April till now, it has been less than 3 months’ time but they faced the media with a sense of professionalism and friendless, leaving the editor with a strong impression. Other than Baro who is a B Blood type, the rest of the B1A4 members (Jinyoung, CNU, Sandeul and Gongchan) are A Blood type, thus, they were named as B1A4. Before debut, B1A4 released a comic strip with characters that fits each member’s personality in reality. Shining Smile, CNU

With a broad shoulders and lengthy limbs with shoulder-length hair tied up, CNU is similar to the

handsome senior from the sports club in comic books. Despite his stiff-looking exterior, he is actually

someone who is really sensitive and emotional! Whenever he flashes his killer smile, many fans

would be charmed by him!

1. What kind of person are you?

I am someone who can be depended on, who would work hard to show everyone what I can do. I hope how I am on stage would allow everyone to feel my sincerity and my kindness and honesty when I am off stage.

2. What were you before you became a singer?

Before debuting as a singer, I had performed with my friend at different stages. No matter what kind of stage there is, I am willing to stand on stage and perform for everyone.

3. A song that encouraged you to be a singer, and had a lot of impact on you?

Usher’s “U Got It Bad”. I grew to like Usher more when I heard this song for the first time. After watching his performance, I was even more determined to become a singer like him!

4. A person you respect a lot?

Usher. In terms of singing and dancing, he is a multi-talented artist. His stage presence is amazing and he even interacts with his fans! I wish that I can be like him, being able to enjoy being on stage and interacting with my fans.

5. What about you do you think is most charming?

Smile. Many fans often tell me that my smile looks good. On the other hand, I think that my broad shoulders and smooth legs is my charm as well! (laugh) It might be due to my training in sports and Taekwondo since young that I have a good-looking figure.

6. Something that makes you frustrated?

I often feel that my eyes are really dry from wearing contact lenses, so I blink more than usual.

7. What advertisement do you think you’re suited for?

If there are any CF that are willing to allow me to take part in, I would feel really appreciative. However, if there is any CF that I am interested in taking, it should be a CF on coffee. Because I love to drink coffee, coffee could help in portraying my charms. (laugh)

8. A color that suits you best?

Though I do not have a favorite color, but when I am shopping for clothes, I would often buy clothes that are black in color. Therefore, my wardrobe are mostly filled with clothing that are black so subconsciously, I ended up thinking that the color really fits me.

9. Your ideal type?

Someone who is motherly-like, who could understand me. An intelligent and sensible girl.

10. The saddest and happiest things you’ve encountered?

I do not have any memories that are sad but for the happiest moment, it would be during the performance for our debut stage as that was the moment I fulfilled my dream as a singer. The joy in being able to stand on stage cannot be explained through words.

11. Something you’ve found interesting or made you happy recently?

Observing how B1A4 fared during performance, then finding out the problem. We then practice in order to improve.

Tablet PC, MP3, headset, contact lens.

13. If you didn’t become a singer, what would you be doing now?

I do not know! I had always dream to become a singer since young so I had never thought of being in any other occupations. However, because I have always been training in Taekwondo, I would probably be advancing in the path of Taekwondo. On the other hand, I also love to eat samgyupsal so I might even open a barbecue restaurant!

14. What are your first impressions of the other members?

When I first saw maknae Gongchan, I thought he looked a little blank but after living with him, he is actually a very simple, cute and lively person.

15. The most humorous and fashionable member?

In terms of fashion sense, everyone is almost the same. Each member is able to bring out their own personalities through their dressing. The most humorous member would be Baro, he could even become a comedian (laugh)!

16. The member most suited to cross-dress?

It should be maknae Gongchan. His eyes are really big and his nose is sharp, he will look beautiful dressing up as a girl (laugh)!

17. In terms of popularity, looks and talent, where do you think you stand in B1A4?

This is embarrassing to say but actually in the group, there isn’t any ranking because everyone is working hard and does it well therefore, everyone is the first.

18. There has been many collaborations between artistes these days. If there is a chance, who would you like to collaborate with?

If I could collaborate with Baro, it should be really interesting. Though I would like to collaborate with the other members as well but because I rap too therefore, it would be interesting if I could rap together with Baro.

19. Since debut till now, what is the most memorable thing that happened?

It would be during the MV filming a few days back where Baro had challenged his first acting scene which is hugging the female lead. Since he did not know what to do, the situation back then was really interesting. His personality is really shy, if I was the one filming then, I could probably do it well! 20. If you could swop bodies like in drama ‘Secret Garden’, what would you like to become?

I would like to become other members in B1A4 because everyone lives differently. I am curious of what they had been through and the hard work that they had put in before, and I would like to experience it myself.

I would talk to the fans in Taiwan more, listen to everyone’s voice and share our stories with everyone.

Strong Leader, Jinyoung

“In the next three minutes, it is impossible to show everyone what we have done and practice for the past two year. Therefore, we can show them what we had worked hard on slowly through every step that we make. Do not feel nervous, let’s just enjoy this very moment.” Jinyoung had said this to his nervous members before stepping onto their debut stage. With the leader’s encouragement, the member’s nervous emotion calm down and enjoyed their first performing experience. I am the type that would work hard once I set my heart to something and would give all that I can to achieve my goals.

I had always dreamed to become an artiste since young. Therefore, I attended an arts school before debut. It can be said that I have always been working hard towards my dream.

I would want to be “WILL I AM” from Black Eyed Peas because he is a musician I respect most.

Sunshine Boy, Sandeul

Speaking with a cute accent, Sandeul is a person filled with a strong sense of purpose and emotions. He does not hesitate to show his passion towards the things that he likes. He would also spend the entire night running non-stop on the treadmill just to lost weight before debut. He would not relax towards fulfilling his own promises.

I am a simple and passionate person.

2. What were you before you became a singer?

My pre-debut pictures have been circulating around the internet ever since I debut. Though everyone had seen how I am before but those are the beautiful memories that I do not regret embracing!

Hiphop boy, Baro

In charge of creating the atmosphere in the group, Baro and Sandeul who are born in the same year are pretty good friends. If Sandeul were to be the group’s peace-maker, then Baro would be the group’s mood-maker. Baro wishes to hold a large-scale concert and enjoy it with the fans. Filled with loads of absurd ideas, the moment Baro stands on stage, he changes into a skillful rapper. That is where his charms lie.

I am someone with a vivacious personality who likes new and interesting things.

2. What were you before you became a singer?

Before debut, I was just a normal teenager who likes to listen to music and hiphop.

3. A song that encouraged you to be a singer, and had a lot of impact on you?

All music are really great but Lil Wayne’s “Got Money” had left me with a deep impression.

It would be Lil Wayne. Despite being small in built, he could fully present a strong and powerful rap. This is something that I would like to learn from him.

Jinyoung: I am Jinyoung, born in 1991! I’m studying composing and songwriting now. I like to cook, and I am especially good at aligo olio (peperoncino).

Baro: I am Baro, born in 1992. I am in charge of rap in the group. My speciality is running and beatbox. My hobby is listening to music.

Sandeul: I am Sandeul, born in 1992 and main vocal of the group. My hobby is to watch movies, and I like animations. Gongchan: I am Gongchan, born in 1993. I am in charge of vocals, and I am the group’s maknae. My hobbies are listening to music and reading. I like French novels. My specialities are swimming and mathematics. I was good at studying up until middle school.

- What is B1A4 as a group?

Jinyoung: For the dreams that we dreamt of, we work hard with all our hearts and to our best. A group that even when there are hard times, we gather our strength together and work hard to get through it. Our group name ‘B1A4’ has the meaning of ‘Be The One, All For One’ - to be the best when 5 become 1, and there are also 4 of us with blood type A and 1 of us with blood type B.

- Why did you think of being a singer?

Jinyoung: I had the dreams of being a singer since long ago. After I passed the auditions, as I was attending an acting school since middle school, I was able to play extra roles in dramas. A fan uploaded my photo on the Internet, and I was scouted to be in the group.

Shinwoo: To be a singer, I had to attend university as an Applied Music major. With the thoughts of that, I went to an Applied Music school. As I was attending one of the many song festivals, I got scouted by the current company.

Baro: I loved music from the start, and when I went to watch Tiger JK’s concert, I got the thoughts of wanting to be a singer.

- The music video of debut song ‘O.K’ looks very lively and enjoyable. Please tell us an episode from the filming.

Gongchan: The acting with the rookie female actress in the music video was so awkward that we got scolded by the director.

Shinwoo: I had a scene where I was playing basketball with the female actress. I hit the actress with the basketball (by accident). Sorry…

- Baro did the rap-making. Other than that, has there been recordings or dances done with opinions from the other members?

Gongchan: We have not had the chance to participate in those parts yet, but we are all studying composing and songwriting now, so we’d like to try participating someday. Even though we have a dance instructor, we do give many of our opinions. I really like the cheoreography of debut song ‘O.K’! There is an action in the dance where we shake our hands, and we named it the breeze dance after Sandeul hyung.

- Your favourite song in the mini-album Let’s Fly?

Sandeul: They are all nice, but to choose something other than O.K, it would be Only Learnt The Bad Things. Even though the follow up song after O.K has yet to be decided, I like that song very much.

- It hasn’t been long since debut so you probably do not have a holiday. But if you did, how would you like to spend it?

Sandeul: We spent everyday practicing, there is no holiday… But if we were given a holiday, I’d like to go sight-seeing around Seoul. I want to go on a picnic, and to the amusement park too.

Shinwoo: If I were given a holiday, I’d like to go home.

Gongchan: I want to go to a waterpark!

- Is there a unique way that B1A4 relieves stress?

Jinyoung: When the stress piles up, we play games. For example, speed games, bingo, mafia games or a game of yut. We’d turn on the music and dance. As we play happily with the other members, the stress will be relieved.

- Amongst the members, who is very certain of himself? And on the other hand, who is quite slow?

Shinwoo: Baro is the most certain of himself. He speaks out his thoughts very confidently and to the point.

Jinyoung: On the other hand, Shinwoo is very slow, and drags the most time when he needs to prepare. He speaks slowly, and his actions are slow too (laugh).

- You already have fans in Japan. Are you studying Japan? Is there a phrase you like?

Jinyoung: The members are all studying Japanese! Even though we’re only beginners, a phrase I like is ‘ganbatte’ (similar to ‘fighting’ in Korean).

Shinwoo: Gongchan likes Japanese mangas so I think his pronounciation is good.

Jinyoung: The phrase ‘kawaii’ comes out often in animes.

Gongchan: I like the word ‘karaii’ (spicy). Because I like spicy things (laugh).

Sandeul: I like the phrase ‘sukidesu’ (to like something/someone).

Baro: I like ‘sushi’ (laugh). Conveyor-belt sushi!! I love you~!

- What would you like to do when you come to Japan?

Baro: I want to hold a concert. And I’d like to watch the scramble crossing in Shibuya (laugh). There are really many people.

Sandeul: I want to do something similar with Baro. I want to stand between buildings and feel all of Japan.

Jinyoung: I want to go to Tower Records in Shibuya and buy our CD! I personally want to see our album being sold there.

Sandeul: I want to tour the houses in Japan.

Gongchan: I want to go to a hot-spring.

- Are there any Japanese singers you like?
